LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK


Best known for
  • Dense ground water Forest and bushes filled with wild animals, birds and insects.
  • Great herds of elephants, antelopes and giraffes. 
  • Situated on the edge of the rift valley.
  • Famous for its tree climbing lions.
  • The Hot Springs along the Rift Valley.
  • Also a great place for bird watching. 


Size & location

  • Covers an area of 330 sq km of which 200 sq km is of water when the water levels are high.
  • It is 128 km from Arusha Town.
  • Located beneath the 600 meters high Manyara Escarpment making a great view from the top of the park.





Climate / When to go

  • Temperatures can be between 25 to 40 Degrees Celsius during the different seasons.
  • Dry season (July-October) for large mammals.
  • Wet season (November-June) for bird watching and  the waterfalls.





Activities

  • Game drive through the forest, bushes and around the lake area.
  • Only national park that allows night game driving.
  • Walking safari can be arranged outside of the park around the escarpment.
